Representing victims of construction accidents

People in Kansas City probably know intuitively that working in the construction field is dangerous. Workers in this profession deal with heavy equipment, machinery and tools on a daily basis.

Moreover, they often have to work in dangerous locations, such as from the higher floors of a tall building or right along a highway.

When construction workers do get hurt on the job, they may be able to avail themselves of workers’ compensation benefits. These benefits are important and helpful, but they do not pay for everything. For instance, a victim will only get a portion of her lost wages and will not able to recover anything for her non-economic losses.

Often, though, someone else, besides the worker’s employer, is also responsible for the victim’s injuries. For instance, the general contractor, another subcontractor or even a supplier or transportation firm, can also be at fault for the accident. With respect to highway construction workers, they may also get struck and seriously hurt by a passing motorist who has no business connection to the construction site whatsoever.

In many cases, more than one business can be responsible to pay compensation.

There are many ways in which someone besides a worker’s employer can be at fault for an accident. For example, if another business has not followed safety protocols set out by the federal government or the state, then someone else on the job site can easily get injured.

Our law office has experience with helping victims of construction accidents identify all responsible parties. While doing so will require a careful investigation, once we are able to identify those whose negligence cause a worker’s injuries, we will use the legal means available to hold them accountable for their actions.
